Fathers and sons sit together with a baseball glove and the optimistic
preparation for a foul ball. Women sit with scorecards marking their own heiroglyphics of
how the game goes. Different walks of life, different generations, different nationalities,
all sit next to each other and have conversation about the day's weather, and the game, and
need for better relief pitching. If I watch closely enough, I see right into their lives;
college girls and their boyfriends flirting between pitches, VFW cronies gathering for a
day at the park, or a tuba player resting between innings. I enjoyed focusing in on one face,
one personality, in a grand ballpark filled to capacity.
